Overview

The HR Manager serves as a strategic HR partner for our manufacturing site, overseeing day-to-day HR operations while supporting the organization's talent and workforce needs. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, company policies, and applicable employment laws, while providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, and development. Responsibilities

  • Serves as a strategic HR partner for the site, balancing strong relationship-building with effective oversight of day-to-day department operations.
  • Delivers timely, constructive performance evaluations, talent reviews, and development opportunities to support team growth.
  • Leads employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and workplace investigations in full compliance with Company Policy and the Union Contract.
  • Collaborates with site leadership to align human resources strategy with current and future talent needs, including recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Provides guidance to HR team members, managers, and staff on complex, sensitive, and specialized HR matters, including reasonable accommodations, workplace investigations, and separations.
  • Advises and supports production supervisors and managers on a broad range of HR policies, programs, and practices to ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, company policy, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Partners with the Talent Acquisition Team to drive recruitment, interviewing, and selection efforts — with a focus on managerial, exempt, and professional roles — while working closely with department leaders to define required skills and competencies.
  • Champions continuous improvement of HR processes to enhance efficiency, elevate the employee experience, and manage overall costs effectively.
  • Monitors and ensures ongoing compliance with employment laws and regulations, proactively reviewing policies and practices to mitigate risk.
  • Supports the planning and execution of employee engagement initiatives and community/public relations activities.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources or related field required.
  • At least 5 years of human resources experience in a high-paced manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience in a labor relations capacity which involves interpreting and explaining labor agreements, grievance issues and other labor relations activities is strongly preferred.
  • Maintains functional knowledge of legal requirements related to employee relations, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Understanding of large volume manufacturing recruitment procedures.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is desired.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required.
  • Experience with SuccessFactors or other HRIS systems ideal.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, excellent project management skills.
  • Effective presentation skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting.
