Overview

The Firmware Testing team verifies user interface and machine functionality according to Design Specification(s). The Firmware Tester performs validation of laundry equipment, update drives, control boards, and ancillary controls/systems to ensure machines align with regulations, standards, and guidelines established by Engineering and Marketing. This role also supports manufacturing as needed and helps train new team members.

Responsibilities

  • Verify operation aligns with machine-specific documentation and requirements
  • Execute simulation and scenario-based testing
  • Perform firmware testing on test boxes and on actual machines
  • Test and validate update drives, control boards, and other ancillary controls/systems
  • Accurately document all test activities (steps, time, methods, materials)
  • Identify, reproduce, and document defects in the issue tracking system to facilitate Engineering resolution
  • Record results and maintain data in testing progress boards and reports following firmware evaluation
  • Log verification progress for controls and machines; maintain accurate testing reports
  • Perform final validation testing prior to design freezes and releases
  • Organize and assist with lab machine updates
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback to Engineering staff to ensure issues progress through the full lifecycle to closure
  • Assist the production team in a manufacturing environment as needed related to firmware testing
  • Participate in and assist with training/onboarding of new team members as necessary

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

 

  • Candidate must have a completed associate degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of firmware, software, or related product testing experience required
  • Experience with issue tracking systems is preferred (YouTrack, GitHub)
  • Prior experience supporting manufacturing, production, or training of team members is a plus

 

Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Hands-on contributor with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex problems into non-technical terms
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and focus on business priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to compile, organize, and present detailed findings and test data to Engineers
  • Ability to work effectively in a project team environment
  • Ability to work under minimal direction, guided by project objectives

 

Travel:

  • Ability to travel within the U.S. and internationally up to 5%


Standard and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for long periods and stand as needed
  • Manual dexterity; frequent stooping/bending
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs
