Coordinates inbound shipments cost effectively while meeting needs of Production.  Supports and assists customer service to meet or exceed customer’s needs.

Primary duties:

• Provides customers with consistent on-time deliveries in the most efficient manner by proper shipment scheduling and proper selection of transportation companies.
• Audits freight bills for appropriate charges.
• Coordinate inbound raw materials to the plant.
• Works with production control and buyers to expedite inbound receipts as necessary.
• Assists in tracing shipments as necessary; obtains proof of deliveries as requested.
• Files freight claims and assists customers with freight claim resolution.
• Works closely with Company Accounts Payable and carrier’s Accounts Receivables to reconcile billing issues.
• Provide freight quotes to Customers as needed.

Secondary duties:

• Continually searches for ways to improve processes and/or reduce costs.
• Keeps up to date and assesses transportation trends by maintaining affiliations with successful companies who practice effective distribution management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Experience:

• Two to five years work experience in distribution/transportation.
• Familiar with acceptable shipping practices and experience in freight claims and fleet operations required.
• International shipping experience preferred.

 

Skills and Abilities:

• Mathematical ability and understanding of basic accounting/costing principles
• Must have positive attitude and be customer service oriented.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
• Must demonstrate effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and manage multiple demands.

 

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.

 

Physical Requirements

• Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting.
