Overview

The Area Leader will have the opportunity to develop people and continuously improve the process for the area. 

 

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Area leader is responsible for leading a department(s) and/or managing a core process(es) within the operation of the Ripon Plant.  Areas may include one or more of the following: small chassis assembly, large chassis assembly, finishing – paint and porcelain, metal fabrication, press operations, plastics operations, and welding.

 

The Area Leader ensures continuous improvement activities with overall responsibility for safety, quality, and production within their area of responsibility. This role will achieve excellence through people management and development, driving employee engagement, and meet or exceed the expectations of our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Support all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment for all team members. Daily plant responsibilities include ensuring employees wear personal protective equipment; ensure leaders/employees follow correct safety policy and procedures, and that proper training and awareness is provided.
  • Ensures team members are properly trained on the standard work in their area including areas of equipment operation, quality standards, and interpersonal skills required to perform their duties.
  • Provide support, coaching, and training to the Group Leaders/Supervisors under their Supervision
  • Continuously improve the visual factory by supporting 5S Bright/Clean/Clear
  • Support day-to-day activities to maintain relationships with team members, meet scheduled production requirements, maintain quality, & improve efficiencies
  • Establish annual goals and objectives that support the attainment of operating goals & budgets.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by driving customer feedback and driving successful new assembly procedures during new product launches.
  • Interact with the Union Steering Committee to insure labor harmony.
  • To continuously improve, this role will proactively build relationship within production, partnering with Environmental Health & Safety, Supply Chain, Logistics, Human Resources, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance departments.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience/Education:

  • Proven history of ability to lead with a servant leadership mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business or Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a medium/high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with lean tools and concepts.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, basic problem solving and troubleshooting ability, along with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Must have advanced understanding of process control and production scheduling.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Position involves sitting for long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting.
