Overview

The Network Administrator is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and security of our organization’s computer networks. The ideal candidate will ensure that users can reliably and securely access data, applications, and systems across the network. 

Responsibilities

  • Expertly install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi access points. 
  • Design and manage comprehensive network infrastructure, covering LAN, WAN, and VPNs. 
  • Vigilantly monitor network performance and swiftly troubleshoot issues such as latency, bottlenecks, and outages. 
  • Analyze traffic and usage patterns to optimize bandwidth and allocate resources efficiently. 
  • Regularly apply firmware and software updates to ensure network devices are up-to-date. 
  • Strategically plan and implement network expansions and upgrades. 
  • Control network access and effectively manage authentication systems such as Active Directory and RADIUS. 
  • Set and enforce access permissions and restrictions to safeguard network integrity. 
  • Network Security: 
  • Configure firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other security appliances to protect our network. 
  • Actively monitor for unauthorized access, breaches, and suspicious activities, ensuring swift and effective responses. 
  • Disaster Recovery and Backup: 
  • Maintain thorough network diagrams and documentation to facilitate recovery operations. 
  • Ensure backups of critical configurations and systems are consistently performed and validated. 
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation to support network operations. 
  • Provide expert troubleshooting and resolution support for connectivity issues, enabling seamless user experiences. 
  • Support VPN access, remote work setups, and secure communications to enhance organizational flexibility. 
  • Collaborate with IT teams (systems, helpdesk, security) to align network functionality with organizational objectives. 
  • Coordinate with vendors or ISPs to resolve external connectivity or service issues, consistently seeking process improvement and cost reduction opportunities. 

Qualifications

Education:  

  • An associate’s degree in networking, business or related field is requiredA bachelor’s degree in networking, business or related field is preferred 

 

Knowledge/Experience:  

  • At least 2 years of experience in network administration, with expertise in configuring and maintaining network hardware and software,
    including routers, switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi access points, preferably within environments that utilize Fortinet solutions.
  • Comprehensive expertise in diagnosing and resolving network connectivity issues and familiar with Active Directory and RADIUS for managing authentication
    systems.

  • Strong communication skills, adept at establishing and nurturing effective working relationships. 
  • Proven problem-solving skills, with a talent for troubleshooting complex issues. 
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Strong service orientation with excellent customer service skills, committed to enhancing user

 

Travel:

  • Occasionally, 10%

Standard and Physical Requirements:

  • Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting.
